Brazilian newsweekly Veja on iPad
The leading newsweekly in Latin America created its iPad app with WoodWing's Digital Magazine Tools and rocketed to No. 1 among free apps.
Leading with a breaking-news cover story on the Brazilian presidential election campaign, the iPad edition of the Brazilian newsweekly Veja debuted on Sept. 4 in the Apple App store and shot immediately to the No. 1 position among free apps.
Veja is the flagship publication of Abril Group, the leading magazine publisher in Brazil. On the iPad, Veja shines with the same combination of incisive journalism and appealing design that has made it the leading newsweekly in Latin America and, behind Time and Newsweek, No. 3 in circulation worldwide.
Abril Group selected the WoodWing iPad solution for this important milestone, and it proved equal to the task. As Carlos Neri, Veja Art Director, puts it: "The creation process is breathtaking, because we are not tied to the physical limits of paper anymore. We can take advantage of everything – sounds, movement and images. The only limit is how creative we can be."
Hans Janssen, CEO of WoodWing, welcomed Abril Group to the family of publishers that have adopted the WoodWing technology for their digital magazines. "We're proud Abril chose WoodWing's cross-media publishing system for the production of Veja," said Hans Janssen. "Abril has shown once more to be a front runner in the publishing industry."
A continuously updated list of iPad apps created with WoodWing's Digital Magazine Tools is available on the Web at www.woodwing.com/en/digital-magazine/ipad-gallery.
