Images originating from professional photographers and stock agencies usually contain descriptive information, such as the name of the photographer and the subject of the image. This information is called "metadata".

Placing caption and/or credit text along with your images usually has to be performed manually. Have you ever thought: “Why can’t this be done automatically? All information to populate these text frames is available in the image’s metadata...”
Well, now you can, with Smart Image!

Smart Image extracts the information available in your images, to generate caption and/or credit text frames automatically. Smart Image will place these text frames along with your image, precisely according to your preferences.

Apply your style, systematically

You can define the location, orientation, style and format of the text frames. The text frames will resize automatically when you change your image size. There are options to add a prefix, such as “Photo by” and a suffix, such as “All rights reserved.” Separators can be inserted when combining caption and credit in one text frame. And because it’s all happening automatically, you can just forget about it from then on.

If you replace the image with a new one, or update the metadata in the original image, automatically updating the caption and credit text is just one mouse-click away. You can also easily change the created text frames and content afterwards, as you prefer.

Templates

The option to create “placeholder” text frames for graphics frames that have no image content yet allows for the creation of InDesign templates that can be used by others.
