BlackBerry PlayBook – another industry first from WoodWing

Submitted by Erik Schut on 20 April 2011

Yesterday RIM launched their new PlayBook device.

We're proud that after the iPad, Android2 and Android3/Honeycomb launches, WoodWing is yet again the first to bring publications to this new tablet device.

Three of WoodWing's customers where live with the App in the BlackBerry App World when the device shipped:

On the creation side these publishers are using the exact same software as they use for their iPad publications. With WoodWing's unique multi-screen functionality it's easy to target another aspect ratio device like the PlayBook. From the creation side ofip files are created which are distributed via the same Content Delivery Service as used for the iPad and Android.

On the App side we use dedicated technology per device platform to achieve the best reader experience. The native iPad and Android Apps are accompanied by a dedicated PlayBook App.

I'd like to thank all people involved from the three publishers, our solutions partners and the WoodWing teams for this great achievement.
