WoodWing's new Web site: lively, informative and fresh

WoodWing reveals new Web site.When we set out to redesign WoodWing Software’s Web site, the mission was clear: Come up with a site that’s informative, lively and easy to navigate.

“We pride ourselves on the fact that our editorial solutions are innovative, fresh and very easy to use,” said Hans Janssen, CEO of WoodWing Software. “We wanted our Web site to have that same feeling. Our old site was decent, but we felt that we could do much better. We wanted something that would be inviting and interesting, and most of all, something that our customers — new and existing — would be able to easily navigate.”

Under the direction of WoodWing Marketing Manager Gerard van den Akker, the newly redesigned woodwing.com Web site was unveiled in early April. It has all the same features that the previous site had, along with several new areas. And most noticeably, it has an entirely new look and feel, with bright graphics and easy-to-locate links.

“First and foremost, it’s a very functional site,” van den Akker said. “You’ll be able to easily find everything you need, from product information to sales and service links, and everything else. Whether you’re a new customer or a current one, it’s going to be much easier for you to find what you’re looking for. We also have continuously updated information on new customers and products, and stories about how publishers across the spectrum are making use of our editorial solutions.”

WoodWing made use of Drupal — an innovative open-source content-management system — to put the new Web site together. “Open-source products play an important role in the future of the industry, and Drupal made it very easy to accomplish our goals with the new Web site,” van den Akker said. “WoodWing’s own solutions are also being integrated with open-source Web systems, so this is completely in line with our product strategy.”

The purpose of the company’s Web site, Janssen pointed out, is multi-faceted. “We want to provide news and information to our customers, and we have to make sure that whatever your situation, and whatever your interest might be, that any visitor to woodwing.com is able to find exactly what they’re looking for,” he said. “And we want to do it all in a way that’s appealing and eye-catching. I think the new Web site succeeds in doing so quite well.”
