Mobile Publishing

In the fast changing world of the internet the mobile phone is becoming an increasingly important device with the advent of mobile phones with large screens, like Apple’s iPhone. Thus, browsing the web on a mobile phone has become a much more pleasant experience. The bigger screens of the newest generation mobile phones enables advertising to look much more visual and attractive.

Still, publishing content for a small screen on so many different devices – more than 10,000 worldwide - is a technical as well as a conceptual challenge. Important decisions need to be made on which content to publish, and of course what tools to use to publish. Also a business model needs to be made around the mobile publishing platform. After all, money needs to be made.

To enable publishers to easily publish their content to mobile devices from their Editorial Content Publishing environment, WoodWing have recently announced the integration with leading mobile publishing technology firm Netbiscuits. By building a server plug-in within the versatile WoodWing Enterprise server environment, content designated for the mobile web site can easily be selected, previewed, and published from within the Content Station application.

Now it is off to building credible, user-friendly mobile websites that can generate money through advertising, possibly even through specific subscription models. After all, as a publisher you have the choice: either you take control and change the world, or you let the world change you, potentially loosing eye balls and valuable advertising revenue opportunities in the process...
