Mitch Klaif, Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer, Time Inc.

Mitch Klaif is Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer of Time Inc., the publishing subsidiary of Time Warner. With oversight for information technology throughout Time Inc. worldwide, he is responsible for technology and e-commerce for more than 115 magazines, 40 branded websites and Time Inc.'s direct marketing businesses. On a corporate level, Klaif is a member of the Time Warner CIO Council, whose members include the CIOs of HBO, Time Inc., Turner Broadcasting/CNN and Warner Brothers.

Klaif joined Time Inc. in 1997 as Director of Customer Service & Operations for Information Technology. Following that role, he was Vice President of Operations, Vice President of Global Magazine and Digital Technology and Deputy CIO before taking on his current role in early 2007.

Joe Zeff - President Joe Zeff Design

Joe Zeff is the president of Joe Zeff Design, an influential design and strategy firm outside of New York City that advises publishers and corporations on app development. His company has designed three apps that have been chosen App of the Week by Apple, and one that resides in the Apple iTunes Hall of Fame. Formerly the Graphics Director of Time magazine, Joe and his team have created hundreds of magazine covers and illustrations, and they have leveraged their expertise in traditional publishing to become a leader in the digital space, working closely with large publishers to advise on content development and produce monthly issues for the iPad and other platforms. Ravi Gopalakrishnan - CTO Barnes and Noble

Before joining Barnes and Noble, Ravi was the VP of Engineering at Azingo where he helped build a Linux mobile platform which was later acquired by Motorola. Prior to Azingo, Ravi had a long stint at Motorola where he led development and commercial deployment of new technologies including the world’s first GPRS system, the iconic RAZR and the world’s first 3G multimode UMTS system. While at Motorola, Ravi also had a very successful stint in Japan helping the company enter the Japanese mobile market by leading the launch of the RAZR into the Japanese market. Ravi holds an MS in Physics from IIT Kanpur in India and MBA from Chicago.

Zeke Koch - Senior Director of Product Management, Digital Publishing Adobe Systems Incorporated

Zeke Koch is the senior director of product management for Digital Publishing at Adobe Systems Incorporated. In this role, Koch oversees the strategy, planning and design for Adobe’s Digital Publishing products.

Previously, Koch was principal product manager for Adobe’s Platform Strategy where he was responsible for defining strategy and direction for Adobe’s “Vectors of Innovation” including Multi-screen, Cloud and Social Computing. Earlier, Koch was the director of product management for Adobe’s Mobile and Desktop Platform Product Management teams (including the Flash Player and AIR). Koch joined Adobe from the acquisition of Macromedia where he was group product manager for Mobile Clients. Prior to Adobe, Koch spent a decade at Microsoft, first as a program manager on the Word 97 team and ultimately as the group program manager for the Windows Mobile Shell team.

Erik Schut - President WoodWing Software

President and co-founder of WoodWing Software. With 15 years of experience in developing state-of-the-art solutions for the publishing industry, his thorough understanding of this industry combined with the latest technology and creativity, result in best-of-class solutions 

Hans Janssen - CEO WoodWing Software

Janssen is one of the founders of WoodWing Software and has stepped into the role of CEO since August 1st, 2007. He has more than 20 years of experience in the publishing industry, both on the technical side and on the business end. Janssen previously worked as the technical director for Mediasystemen, after which he became the Director of IT for the Telegraaf Media Groep.

Arjan Bonte - Channel Manager WoodWing Europe

Bonte started at WoodWing early 2010 as Channel Manager and is responsible for Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Belgium, France, Portugal and Spain. As a Channel Manager for these countries he is responsible to initiate, maintain and develop successful relationships with Business Partners. During the last 8 to 10 years he has gained extensive experience in channel sales in both the ICT and software industry.



During the migration period until November 2012 he will also act as Migration Manager.

Carlo started at WoodWing early 2005 as a software engineer for InDesign plug-ins. Since 2010 he is part of the product management team for Enterprise and the plug-in products.

Dennis van Nooij - Product Manager at WoodWing Software

Dennis is responsible for WoodWing's Digital Publishing Tools and Content Station. He has more than 10 years of experience in building Web and Desktop applications with a focus on rich user experience.

Edwin van der Klaauw - Senior Software Engineer WoodWing Software

Van der Klaauw has 15 years of experience in developing solutions for the publishing industry. In 2003 he became a key founder of the Enterprise system. The Enterprise Server is currently his major preoccupation.

Hans has been a pioneer in the desktop publishing revolution with over 20 years of experience in development and customization, support and pre-sales projects. As a consultant, Hans translates the customer's objectives and business needs into elegant solutions. Hans regularly contributes to WoodWing Labs with plug-in and scripting samples.

Jeroen Dekker - Senior Software Engineer WoodWing Software


Jeroen is the team-lead of the WoodWing HTML5 development team. This team is responsible for the following products: html5 reader, webOS reader, html store and html widgets. Jeroen has 15 years of experience in software development.

Jim Meyer - Senior Software Engineer

Jim has been developing software systems for over 30 years, specializing in Publishing for the last 20. He has been working with Enterprise since 2004 and is the creator of Smart Mover along with numerous plugins, client apps and other system enhancements.

John Fong - CEO of Serious Group

John co-founded Serious Technology in 2004. In 2006, a strategic decision was made to focus on technology for the publishing sector in Southeast Asia. The first newspaper client was secured in 2007 and today Serious Technology is the leading IT solution partner for publishers in Southeast Asia.
In 2007, John also co-founded Serious Consulting and Serious Software. He successfully seeded and funded the development of Dakode - a QR Code solution for publishers. Serious Consulting also provides creative production outsourcing for publishers on tablets.

Joris Conijn - Software Engineer and Architect of the infrastructure of the CDS

Joris Conijn is a Software Engineer and Architect of the infrastructure of WoodWing's Content Delivery Service. His experience as an System Administrator, Software Engineer and Certified Akamai Administrator fit perfectly with his occupations of maintainign and developing large platforms such as the Content Delivery Service and setting up Enterprise in the cloud. Joris joined WoodWing in 2008.

Joost Huizinga - System Architect WoodWing Software

Joost Huizinga is System Architect for WoodWing Software, helping the various development teams to produce software components that understand each other. Before picking up the role of architect, he was at the heart of most of WoodWing's InDesign plug-ins, resulting in a great amount of knowledge of the development of InDesign plug-ins, InDesign scripting and Smart Connection scripting in particular. Joost is one of the founders of WoodWing Software.

Maarten van Kleinwee - Senior Technical Writer WoodWing Software

Maarten van Kleinwee is the Senior Technical Writer for WoodWing Software and produces all technical documentation that is shipped with the products. Maarten is an Adobe Certified Expert (ACE) for InDesign and uses InDesign on a daily basis together with many of WoodWing’s products. Maarten joined WoodWing in 2006.

Raoul de Grunt - Consultant and Support Engineer WoodWing Software

Raoul de Grunt is a consultant / support engineer and joined WoodWing in 2007 as a developer. As developer Raoul mostly worked on Smart Catalog and on the Enterprise server. Since 2010 Raoul joined the support team and also became active as a consultant. Most actively Raoul has worked with the CDS, building WoodWing reader application and many different other tasks.

Rebecca McPheters is CEO of McPheters & Company, a boutique consulting and research company founded in 1997. The company works in the areas of strategic planning, research, and accountability metrics – and has been a consistent thought-leader on issues relating to media management and accountability. In 2010, the company launched iMonitor™, which provides global tracking and detailed evaluation of media-related apps. It is used by publishers, ad agencies, and developers to stay on top of trends in this rapidly evolving area and to document app quality and performance. To date iMonitor has evaluated more than 5,000 apps from 65 countries.

Roger Risdal, Business Development Manager, Adobe Digital Publishing Team

Roger has been working at Adobe for 10 years, first as product expert for InDesign and later as product partner manager for the InDesign product family. Roger has a background as professional photographer, working with image quality, graphic production and layout/design. He has several years of experience as a trainer in computer software and production workflow. Today, roger is part of the newly formed Digital Publishing Team.

Simon Regan-Edwards - Production Director of the Sunday Times

Simon has worked in the newspaper and magazine industry since the 1980s ‑ starting life publishing with a Mac Plus and an Apple LaserWriter. He has moved from a magazine and newspaper sub-editor to implementing editorial systems and workflows.
Playing with Unity in his spare time, he published his first iPhone game soon after the App Store opened and earned enough from the venture to buy several coffees.
He motivated a team of developers, designers and subs to put together the first Sunday Times iPad app that launched to worldwide acclaim in December 2010. The app hit the Number 1 spot in the Apple UK download charts and every Sunday is the highest grossing iPad app in the UK. It was rated the world’s number 1 newspaper and magazine iPad app for 2010 by iMonitor.

Stefan Ragaz - Chief Editor Neue Luzerner Zeitung

Stefan Ragaz is Deputy Editor in Chief of Neue Luzerner Zeitung. The Swiss daily newspaper is published in six regional editions with a total circulation of approximately 130,000 subscribers and a reach of 280,000 readers every day. The paper uses an innovative workflow that enables the efficient multi-regional production of a variety of print and electronic channels from within a single environment.

Before joining the editorial team in 1995, Ragaz lived in Washington for 5 years, working as U.S. correspondent for various newspapers and radio stations in Switzerland and Austria. He started his journalistic career as Editor in Chief for two other daily newspapers in Switzerland.

William R. J. Ribeiro is a relatively new Software Engineer in the WoodWing team. For over a year now he has been working at different products like the BlackBerry Playbook reader, HTML Widgets and the HTML Store. If you saw a big group of brazilians at the last Xperience, probably he was part of it too since he's our only South American developer in Holland.
