Business model within the healthcare sector 

Fidesta Zorg functions as a business model within the healthcare sector. With now eight Fidesta homes, they mainly focus on providing comfortable living for older adults. I talked to Ilja Terpstra about their model, its successes, and the Fidesta franchise manual in Scienta. 

An increasing number of older adults in the Netherlands are anticipated to reside in their homes for extended periods with the help of informal care or home care. "That can be lonely," explains Ilja. "Fidesta Zorg provides a living option for individuals who require more assistance than home care but are well enough not to have to enter a nursing home. We also provide special living spaces reserved for couples. We think that is crucial." 

With Scienta, personal contact can still be maintained. "I started at Fidesta three years ago. At the same time, we discovered Scienta, and it became immediately clear that the software perfectly matched our operations and needs. We aimed to expand without losing sight of our goal not to become too large. Fidesta's strength lies in its small scale and short lines of communication. With too many intermediate layers, that would no longer be possible." 

I had discovered Scienta before I ever truly figured out Sharepoint.

Scienta helps us help 

"As a Fidesta team, we help franchisees - we call them healthcare entrepreneurs - with their entrepreneurship. For example, we help with the start-up of a new Fidesta home. We hold monthly coordination meetings." 

"Furthermore, through Scienta, I advise on facility matters, we arrange the formats or templates for a rental agreement, inform them about HACCP standards, assist them in ensuring fire safety, you name it." 

"In Scienta, we then indicate how certain documents should be drawn up, for example, or we give tasks and reminders. Everything is done through consultation with us, leaving them enough room to work independently, and the residents benefit from extra attention." 

Franchise manual 

"Scienta is our manual. All the articles and appendices form our manual, and healthcare entrepreneurs can access it in Scienta. We only 'send' reading tasks in case of changes, for example. This contains the frameworks: this is Fidesta. We provide this type of care; we don't provide that." In this, Scienta provided Fidesta Zorg the necessary means for digitization.

"Before we used Scienta, the manual was a Word document, which didn't work well. Adjustments went by email, which was very laborious and error-prone. It resulted in noisy communication. You have to save all those versions, for instance. In Scienta, you can be very transparent. Reading tasks and comparing versions is easy." 

Search function and Sharepoint 

As users, the franchisees at Fidesta particularly like the search function. "They can find the latest version of the correct formats in no time, saving time. As administrators ourselves, we like to use the news widget to inform. For instance, we recently shared news about the new CAO for healthcare, and just the other day, broadcaster Omrop Fryslân came to film. The link with Vilans is also very nice. It allows us to find the latest protocols at lightning speed. Thanks to help.mijnscienta.nl, I basically never have to ask for support. Truly wonderful." 

"We also use Sharepoint. But honestly: I had discovered Scienta before I ever truly figured out Sharepoint. Scienta is simply more insightful. For the relationship between a franchisor and a franchisee, Scienta is the best choice." 

Getting more out of Scienta 

"We have most of the processes written out now. That is a lot of text, and we would like to put it into a nice flowchart. That is labor-intensive, but that is still on our wish list. We have also recently started putting out questionnaires to franchisees."
