At WoodWing, you will help build the future of content production, in an organization with little hierarchy and lots of freedom to develop your own skills.

About your role

We are looking for a Product Manager for our SaaS Digital Asset Management (DAM) solution Swivle. This is a pivotal role with the authority to make the choices you think are required for the success of your product – you will be responsible for defining the product strategy, identifying market opportunities, and leading a team of developers, marketing, and more. You need to be passionate about your product and focused on not only building a great product, but also making sure that it is a commercial success. Love the stuff you build and make sure everybody involved shares your passion.

Who you are

  • 3+ years of SaaS product management experience and a passion for (B2B) SaaS.
  • Experience in building tools for marketing departments.
  • Experience in leading a team.

What we offer

  • An entrepreneurial environment that stimulates learning by doing.
  • A great bunch of experienced colleagues that share the passion for software and are available to help.
  • A budget to invest in the product.
  • Training opportunities. Budget to invest in yourself (courses or training) and visit (international) events.
  • And the usual, like a competitive salary, a new MacBook Pro, free drinks, fruits, and snacks.

Our culture and values

Our team is made up of more than 20 nationalities, across offices in the Netherlands, Malaysia, and the US. While we have a mix of people, we have a common goal: to build the future of content production for the world’s leading publishers and brands.

WoodWing is an organization with a history of innovation. Nearly two decades ago, we helped popularize Adobe InDesign with our first plugin. In 2010 we were the first software provider to make it possible to publish on the iPad. And in 2019 we became the preferred partner of Apple for publishing to Apple News+.

Our culture is built around six values - Exploration, Collaboration, Leadership, Fun, Pride and People at Heart. Our values to bring culture to life in our day-to-day behavior. They are carefully selected based on what we have developed over our years as a company, and what we consider important to reach our vision.

Senior Backend Developer

Where you’ll work

Every day, publishers and brands around the world work with WoodWing products to create magazines, newspapers, and other content, online, in-app, and in print. At WoodWing, you will help build the future of content production, in an organization with little hierarchy and lots of freedom to develop your own skills.

About your role

Come help us develop our Enterprise Server codebase further, taking us to the next level. Enterprise is the engine behind our advanced workflow- and content editing software, guiding many of the world’s top publishers to produce print- and digital content.

We’re looking for a new senior backend developer who will code new functionality and improvements within the Enterprise Server. You’ll work with other developers to both support frontend functionality and expand the capabilities of the system. You think about the desired user process and design new or improved functionality or API’s. At WoodWing, developers have the freedom to choose which tools and technologies they want to use to get the work done, respecting the limitations of the existing frameworks and code. You enjoy helping other developers to improve and realise that, by doing that, you are helping yourself to improve.

The core of the current technology stack comprises PHP, SQL, Java, C++, AngularJS and JavaScript. Your main focus will be on PHP and SQL. We use other languages, libraries and tools in our applications - as long as it helps us reach our goals. We expect you to pick up new things quickly and to strengthen the team with your own experience and ideas.

Who you are

(minimum requirements)

  • 4+ years experience as a developer
  • Experience with object oriented programming languages, preferably Java or C++.
  • Experience with PHP.
  • Experience with domain driven design and test driven development.
  • Experience with troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  • Experience with large data models, relational databases and SQL.
  • Experience with web service design and infrastructure (Apache, IIS)
  • Experience with object oriented design.
  • Experience with Continuous Deployment or Continuous Delivery
  • You can pick up new programming languages or tools quickly if need be.
  • You can work independently within a small, multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience with source code repositories, preferably Git/Github
  • You can communicate in English, in both spoken and written word.
  • Experience of working within the Agile methodology
  • Experience of mentoring other developers

(to your advantage)

  • Experience with AWS and Docker
  • Experience with Solr / ElasticSearch
  • Experience withJavascript, AngularJS, CSS, SCSS and HTML
  • Experience with Scrum
  • Experience with development and contributing to Open Source software

Why work at WoodWing?

  • We build standard products, not custom work. At WoodWing you’ll have the time to build a good architecture.
  • We offer the chance to attend professionally related international events.
  • There are many possibilities to develop yourself further and grow within our mature and flexible organization.
  • Located in Zaandam, easily reachable by both train or car. Plenty of parking spaces.
  • Contact with colleagues working around the world, with a strong base of developers in Zaandam
  • Possibility to occasionally work from home
  • Excellent secondary employment benefits.
  • Informal working environment including Nerf guns, table tennis table, fussball table, pool table and pair programming tables.
