About the client
Quad is a leading global marketing experience company helping brands connect with consumers through comprehensive, data-driven marketing solutions. With a mission to ‘create a better way’, Quad combines innovation with expertise to offer an array of services, from strategic business consulting to creative production and delivery. Operating with teams across the United States, including major hubs in Wisconsin, Chicago, and New York, Quad’s marketing division supports a diverse client portfolio and oversees a high volume of creative assets, requiring seamless collaboration across a distributed workforce.
The challenge
Following the arrival of a new Chief Marketing Officer, Quad’s marketing department became an independent function within the company, leading to a significant team expansion and an increase in creative output. This growth, while exciting, presented operational challenges, including increased complexity in managing and organizing digital assets. Team members relied on various storage systems like SharePoint and Box, which, while functional, led to occasional inefficiencies (version control difficulties and scattered workflows). As a result, the team sought a centralized digital asset management solution that would streamline collaboration, provide reliable version control, and support the team’s future growth without complicating the user experience.
The solution
Quad’s leadership, familiar with WoodWing from their publishing backgrounds, evaluated multiple DAM options. Quad’s tech lead, recognizing the ease of use, enterprise-grade capabilities, and straightforward interface of WoodWing Assets 10 (formerly branded as WoodWing Swivle), approached the decision with an objective eye, focused solely on finding the best fit for the team’s needs. Throughout the demos, the team encountered trade-offs with other platforms, which either provided extensive enterprise power but required intensive setup and technical management or were easier to implement but lacked essential features. Quad needed something robust enough to support an enterprise, and easy enough to manage for a growing, dynamic team.
WoodWing Assets 10 struck the perfect balance, providing powerful, enterprise-grade features within an approachable, low-maintenance interface. It fits Quad’s specific needs without forcing the team to sacrifice usability or manage excessive technical overhead.
As a result, Quad’s creative services, production, and IT teams chose it as the ideal solution. The platform’s visual previews and version tracking stood out as valuable features for maintaining organization and quick asset identification while requiring minimal customization.
“I love the visual aspect of WoodWing Assets – opening it up and instantly seeing what I need without having to search by name has saved us so much time,” shares Christine DePedro, Design Production Manager. “For a visual thinker, this feature has been a game-changer.”
WoodWing Assets' user-friendly approach ensured a smooth adoption process, making it easy for team members to transition from previous storage systems without extensive training.
WoodWing Assets took what was previously a time-intensive process and turned it into something that we can now handle in a couple of hours. Our team has gained a valuable productivity boost, giving us more time to focus on the work that truly matters.
